The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Chairperson, Brig. Gen. Justin Mutale (Rtd) was on the familiarisation tour of some radio stations in Central and Copperbelt Provinces from 5th March 2015 to 7th March 2015. The Chairperson was accompanied by the IBA Director- Standards, Licensing and Compliance, Mr. Eustace Nkandu and Inspector-Licensing and Compliance, Stephen Chileshe. The team was later joined by a Board member from Ndola, Director Enita Hamatumbika.
The Chairperson had also an opportunity to witness the inspection of Rise FM of Chingola, Sun FM Repeater stations in Kabwe and Kapiri Mposhi as well as KNC repeater station in Kapiri Mposhi.
Radio stations visited as part of the familialisation tour included Chimwemwe FM and Jive in Ndola; YAR FM, FLAVA FM and Radio Icengelo in Kitwe, as well as Kokoliko FM and iWave in Chingola.
Other stations toured included Chimwemwe FM in Ndola; YAR FM, FLAVA FM and Radio Icengelo in Kitwe, and Kokoliko FM and iWave in Chingola.
The IBA delegation also featured on live phone-in programmes on Sun FM in Ndola and FLAVA FM in Kitwe.
This was the first tour of radio stations undertaken by the Chairperson and Director Hamatumbika since the Board was inaugurated in October 2014. The tour was meant to enable the Chair and Director Hamatumbika to interact with media owners in order to appreciate their experiences and challenges.
